# Define product opportunities

## **Spot opportunities that matter**

Creating great products begins with understanding your users. By clearly identifying user needs, you can focus your attention on the most valuable product opportunities and confidently decide what to prioritize next.

Timebook helps you easily capture these **Insights**, translate them into clear **Opportunities**, and visually organize them with **Opportunity Solution Trees** (OSTs). With this approach, you can ensure all potential development paths are clearly mapped out for informed future decisions.

## From Insights to Opportunities: Turn feedback into action

**Insights** in Timebook can be auto-captured from [Interview](/hc/product-guide/core-concepts-and-objects/research-and-planning-objects/interview.md) transcripts or created manually. Regardless of how you gather them, each Insight has a convenient \[**Generate**] button, enabling you to quickly convert Insights into clear, actionable **Opportunities** representing potential product improvements. You can also generate [Work Items](/hc/product-guide/core-concepts-and-objects/delivery-objects/work-item.md) from Insights to turn feedback directly into tasks—but that's a different story.

**Opportunities** clearly define potential areas of improvement or growth based on your Insights. Each Opportunity includes an **Opportunity score**, calculated from its importance and current user satisfaction, helping your team prioritize effectively in the next stages of your product discovery process. Creating Opportunities is a significant milestone—it helps you quickly move from ideas to action.

Quick wins with **Insights** to **Opportunities** in Timebook:

* Capture Insights automatically or manually, then instantly **convert them into** **Opportunities** with the \[Generate] button.
* Use the Opportunity score (importance vs. satisfaction) to **quickly identify and prioritize the Opportunities that matter most**.

We have a dedicated article explaining Opportunities in detail. For more information, see [Opportunity](/hc/product-guide/core-concepts-and-objects/research-and-planning-objects/opportunity.md)

## **OST: See product discovery in the big picture**

An **Opportunity Solution Tree** (**OST**) is a simple visual tool that helps product teams clearly map out potential areas to improve a product, explore different solutions, and stay aligned on big-picture goals. Instead of working on separate ideas, you can evaluate all ideas in one place and choose the best path forward.

<div align="left"><figure><img src="/files/LZx3s2sNIZ1LpAKreM78" alt=""><figcaption><p>Use Opportunity Solution Trees to map your product discovery process and its components.</p></figcaption></figure></div>

In Timebook, you can use OSTs to visually organize your [Opportunities](/hc/product-guide/core-concepts-and-objects/research-and-planning-objects/opportunity.md), link them to potential [Solutions](/hc/product-guide/core-concepts-and-objects/timebook-objects/solution.md), and connect everything back to your overarching [Goals](/hc/product-guide/strategy-objects/goal.md). This creates an easy-to-follow, tree-like view of your entire product discovery process. What’s more, each [Team](broken://pages/QbXiEeUhBL6iBL35OuIB) in Timebook gets its own module to manage OSTs and keep their discovery process organized.

{% hint style="success" %}
Quick wins with **Opportunity Solution Trees** in Timebook:

* Use OSTs to **map out your Opportunities and link them directly to Solutions** and overarching Goals.
* Use the **dedicated OST module** available to each Team to keep your product discovery clear and collaborative.

We have a dedicated article explaining OSTs in detail. For more information, see [Opportunity Solution Tree](/hc/product-guide/core-concepts-and-objects/timebook-objects/opportunity-solution-tree.md)
